Black Thunder Theme Park
Located 40 kilometres from Ooty, this is Asia’s number one theme park. Spread over 65 acres, Black Thunder Theme Park is a perfect place to get an adrenaline rush. A swimming pool for kids built around an artificial volcano deserves a special mention along with other adventure and water rides.
Mountain Biking
Ooty has a park especially designed for mountain bikers. Apart from the natural bumps of the hilly region, it has some additional difficulty elements. With a minimal fee of Rs. 10 per lap, mountain biking is a good adventure sport to indulge in.
Trekking
If you are a wildlife enthusiast or simply love the challenge that mountains throw, then Ooty provides some excellent trekking locations. You can trek amidst the mountains and spot a Nilgiri langur, macaque, Nilgiri tahr or gaur. If you’re lucky, you might even see some predatory animals. Guides are available on hire to help you through the trek.
Hang Gliding
Tamil Nadu Tourism organises hang gliding courses and events between March and May. The hang gliding launch area is 20 kilometres from Ooty in Kalahatty. You need to book in advance to enjoy the aerial thrills.
Angling
With so many lakes around, angling comes naturally. Spend a lazy day with your family by the lakeside and try getting some good catch.
Jolly World Children Park
This park with games and rides is a favourite with the kids. Apart from the rides, there's also a go-kart track for grown-ups. One can easily spend couple of hours here, if not more.
